GARY NAGEL

Gary Nagel is the founder of ASTI and was the Owner, Director of Development, and Director of Education of ASTI, from 1989-2017. He was also the owner of Hair Art and Colour Company, Milwaukee, WI. He is a master in Hair chemistry, and has expertise in chemical services using hydrogen peroxide, enzymes, amino building blocks, and the advanced world of ozone technology. He is also a renown colorist and had been a National educator. He was an inventor of new methods in perming additives, perming techniques, and a theory of coloring hair, described in Modern Salon as revolutionary. (Nov. 1986)

It is with great heartbreak, we share that Gary Nagel, founder of ASTI, passed away on February 28th, 2023.
Gary was a strong minded, driven, intelligent, determined and an inspiring human. He was a pioneer for the future of the chemistry of hair and color theory. He was an entrepreneur and paved the way for those that believed in his system.
I, Geri, was one of them. His knowledge of many subjects was extreme and impressive. For me, he had been involved in most of my professional hairstyling career over 30 years ago. He trained me, encouraged me, he inspired me.
As CEO of Hair Art, and Colour Co., he created ASTI, a professional hair care line dedicated to reducing hair damage with his ASTI Alternative Developers, and offered the most amazing product line to complement the developers with no cosmetic weight. His ASTI creation was my obsession. I remember placing orders with him and he was a one man show! He took the order, filled it and shipped it. He remained owner of Hair Art and Colour Co./ASTI, until Sept. 2017 at which time, we purchased the company from him. He was a brilliant stylist. I will miss him and our conversations about hair chemistry and color!
